The Hamilton Energy Centre is a district heating plant located on a prominent site in downtown Hamilton. As such, the building is as transparent as possible, opening to the street with exhibition and meeting space, and sculptural detail, with the stacks occupying a prominent location complimenting the park created in association with this development. The building is the recipient of the 2003 Hamilton & Burlington Society of Architects, Honourable Mention for Architectural Excellence, as well as the 2005 City of Hamilton Urban Design and Architecture Award of Excellence in Overall Design.
